What is Red Yeast Rice possibly effective for?
 
It  may lower triglyceride and low-density lipoprotein, or LDL, 'bad' cholesterol levels in the blood
It may also help to raise the levels of high density lipoprotein, or HDL 'good' cholesterol.

Red Rice Yeast and Statins
Due to the similarity of action for Red Rice Yeast and statins, it is recommended that this product should not be taken in conjunction with prescribed statin treatments.

Suggested Intake: 3 capsules per day for 8-12 weeks, reduce by 1 or 2 capsules once desired level is reached.
